Fleet & Maritime operators depend on GPS services. GPS positioning and navigation technology relies on the acquisition of the weak satellite signals to determine the precise location of all assets. Unprotected GPS receivers are vulnerable to malicious jamming attacks which cause serious problems for fleet and maritime operators. Jammers are the most commonly used weapon by cargo thieves. Cargo theft is a significant and growing problem. In A truck is robbed every 5 minutes in Mexico and in 85% of those robberies, a GPS jammer is used. The situation is similar in other Latin American, African, South-east Asian and Eastern European countries.
Fleet Management & Maritime operators are highly dependent on GNSS services. GNSS reference receivers that are not protected against widely available and inexpensive jamming products are dangerously exposed. Maritime operations rely completely on GNSS signals and are therefore especially vulnerable to their disruption. Hostile and even unintentional interference with these signals jeopardize the efficiency and safety of maritime operations and can endanger seafarer lives.
The U.S. Maritime Administration has issued several advisories for GPS signal interference in the Eastern Mediterranean during the last two years. Coast Guard operations are also reporting jamming as a significant problem for interdiction activities.

The Solution: OtoSphere™

Cloud-based Actionable Intelligence
Adding the CommModule to any OtoSphere™ unit allows the aggregation of the attack data to infiniDome’s data warehouse, infiniCloud. infiniCloud collects all assault data in real-time from OtoSphere units deployed among the ships GPS receivers. The data is aggregated into a single, private dashboard for users to log into providing real-time notifications as well as statistical reports. When a jamming attack is detected operators can alert authorities with actionable intelligence for responding to the alert and apprehending the criminal operating the jammer.
